3rd & 4th Generation 3 time 600+ comprehensive classical Pilates certifications equalling 1,800+ hours of training.
My journey with Pilates began in the winter of 2011, though my passion for fitness started much earlier. My fitness career began in 2004 when I earned a Cooper Institute Physical Fitness Specialist certificate and an AFAA certification. From 2004 to 2009, I trained individuals and have since taught a wide array of fitness classes over the years: Aqua, Barbell, Barre Above, Boot Camp, Core Board, Cycle, Fitness Yoga, Functional Training, Mat Pilates, PiYo, Strength, Strike, Triggerpoint GRID Foam Rolling, TRX Suspension, Turbo Kick, Yogalates and Zumba.
Encouraged by my manager at Lifetime, I pursued a Comprehensive Certification as a Pilates Instructor. At that time, my routine was filled with high-impact aerobics, which was taking a toll on my shoulders, feet and knees. As I started my education with the Peak Pilates System (student levels I, II, III), I taught Pilates mat classes at various health facilities. The positive changes in my body and increased freedom in my movements were remarkable. The blend of strength movements and stretching quickly captivated me. Pilates has significantly improved my flexibility, prevented injuries, and enhanced my overall well-being.
I am passionate about motivating and nurturing others. Classical Pilates brings health, fitness, happiness, and productivity into our lives, and I became a teacher to share these benefits. As a 4th Generation Century Pilates Instructor, I completed a 450-hour training program in 2024, adding to my 600-hour Peak Pilates Comprehensive Classical Pilates Instructor Certification obtained in 2013 which was led by Cherry Herzog a 3rd Generation instructor under Colleen Glenn. Additionally, I am 3rd Generation Instructor after completing a post comprehensive 225 hour DiscoverMoveInspire-Masters in Pilates Teaching™ Diploma from Austin Pilates Barn in which was designed and led by Nancy Gwinnell Hurd who was awarded title of “Lolita San Miguel Pilates Master “Second Generation”.
On a personal note, I have a loving husband and four boys. We are immensely proud that our two oldest have served in the United States military, and I am a dedicated baseball mom to our two youngest. I enjoy running, swimming, cooking, and am a novice golfer, skier. Additionally, I served in the United States Air Force and am a proud veteran of Desert Shield/Storm.
My ultimate goal as an instructor is to ensure that people leave my classes feeling better inside and out. Pilates is a mind/body practice, and I strive to make everyone feel loved, energized, motivated, and encouraged.
