Laura Ten Eyck
4th Generation Certified Instructor of Century Pilates Instructor Training
Education
Globally Accredited by the Pilates Method Alliance
Laura came to know Pilates in late 2019 at her local franchise Club Pilates studio. After doing more research she transitioned to Century Pilates as she felt the Classical method of Pilates was more effective. Laura felt moving to Century Pilates in late 2022 would help her accomplish her goal of getting stronger and deepen her practice. The smaller classes and personal attention allowed her to do both. Classical Pilates resonates with Laura because it is founded in tradition and focuses on the importance of mastering the foundations as a path to success. She took her first Pilates class with a goal of gaining strength and engaging the entire body. She loved that it was relatively low impact and challenging, however the welcoming and supportive culture of Century Pilates studio was the prime reason she continued to go. Practicing Pilates helped Laura prepare for shoulder surgery in 2020 and played a huge role in her recovery. The strength she gained doing classical Pilates paid off during physical therapy and when she returned back to the studio, the same occurred in 2023 for a second shoulder surgery.
When Laura started the Century Pilates 600 Hour 4th generation instructor training program she had brought with her over a year and a half of experience and regular private training with experienced instructors. Laura has always loved teaching and believes that becoming a certified instructor was a fulfilling way to stay active and connect to others. Laura holds several degrees in psychology and holds a PhD in experimental social psychology and works for a large healthcare service company as a healthcare economist. Although her graduate program was designed to prepare her for a life and academia, she chose a different path where many of the same skills she applies there had nurtured a love of working with her students. Her day-to-day varies but is primarily focused on supporting her team members and their project work and professional development while ensuring alignment with her clients goals.
Laura is happily married to Russ and they share three cats and one dog, all rescues. Laura loves to read fiction and spending time with her family.
When you take a class with Laura or a private lesson, her goal is to have fun while learning the foundational techniques that will set you up for success and progress. She also hopes to convey her love for Pilates and that her students leave her class feeling energized and inspired.
